INTERVIEW:
He is Seok Hong Geun, who finished VFX regular class in SFFS.
I studied VFX because I was got interested in the field after I took 3D Max classes back in college. It was challenging at first because I didn't have prior knowledge in the field. Then I joined workshops, and I completed my demo-reel by researching techniques with my workshop colleagues. When I first entered workshop, I was shy, so I didn't get to know a lot of people. But they approached me first and offered me help and advice, so I gradually opened my heart, and we became friends at the end. I wanted to join composition part in the future. I wanted to make my demo-reel more on realistic objects than humanoid robots, so I chose to work on a rhinoceros beetle. I got a rhinoceros beetle myself and I constantly compared it to my modelling. Expressing the texture of the back of the beetle was a challenge. But as my work progressed, thanks to feedback from my colleagues and teachers, I could get a texture that I want on my modelling. Everyone gets a slump once in awhile. I had mine as well. My seniors told me that when you have slump, play hard, and come back to work. So I got over my slump by playing hard. I think it is better to get some fresh air rather than agonizing over why I have a slump when you have a slump. Working in CGI industry is quite demanding. But picture yourself as an awesome professional in the future, and keep pushing yourself until the end. And I will never forget my workshop family for being there for me always. I greatly appreciate all the teachers. Thank you Mr. Choi, Mr. Kim, Mr. Lim, Director Kim, Department Manager, and Greg. I hope I get to see all of you in the future. Thank you!
