Interview with Hyeyeon Jo

This portfolio was created based on an advertising concept inspired by a chameleon changing colors, with the idea that its changing colors could also be applied to a car.

The production process was storyboarding → character modeling → rigging → animation → rendering & lighting → compositing → color correction.

I think it is important to have a fairly clear idea of which department you want to apply for before starting your portfolio. In particular, when creating a storyboard, it is important to think deeply about one main concept and explore different ideas and possibilities within that theme.

I believe it is helpful to first figure out which field you are interested in and which area you think you would be good at, and then develop your storyboard based on that direction.

Before starting my personal portfolio, the artwork classes were also very helpful. Going through the process of developing ideas and creating work, from sculpting with Sculpey to storyboarding, helped me a lot when I started working on my personal portfolio.

There wasn't a single scene where I didn't run into some kind of problem. However, I think I improved a lot by constantly asking the instructors questions and working through each problem one by one.

At first, I kept wondering, "When is this ever going to be finished?" But once it was actually over, it felt like the whole process had gone by so quickly. After finishing, I was left with a lot of thoughts like, "I should have done a little more..."
