Interview with Jaesun Choi

Hello, my name is Jae-seon Choi, and I recently completed the VFX Regular Course at SF Film School.

After graduating from an engineering college, I decided to pursue CG, something I had wanted to do for a long time, and that led me to SF Film School. After joining PFX Lab, I struggled at first because I had chosen the wrong direction for my project. I had to create a new storyboard from scratch, and I also went through a period of burnout. Despite all the ups and downs, I was able to complete my portfolio thanks to my instructors and my PFX Lab family.

Because I spent too much time struggling in the early stages, I regret that I wasn't able to properly study modeling, rigging, and texturing. However, I was still able to focus on learning the specific areas I wanted to pursue.

Looking back, there were many things that seemed overwhelming at first. However, once you create even a small project, you begin to understand the overall workflow. I believe that while studying, trying to create even simple projects on your own can be extremely helpful. At the same time, I strongly recommend actively asking your instructors and friends for their opinions and being open to constructive criticism. When you work alone for too long, it is easy to get caught up in your own ideas and lose sight of the bigger picture.

My time at PFX Lab was certainly challenging at times, but I learned a great deal and had the opportunity to work on the things I truly wanted to do, which made the experience very enjoyable. I believe the experiences I gained and the people I met during this time will be a valuable asset to me in the future.
