Interview with Junghwa Oh

I started this project after deciding that I wanted to pursue compositing, and I created the storyboard with that goal in mind. There was not really a specific story; the storyboard was mainly designed to incorporate the techniques and elements used in compositing.

The production process followed this order: car modeling → filming → tracking → background matte → projection → car animation → render lighting → Nuke compositing.

I think it is important to finalize your storyboard before starting and focus primarily on the areas that genuinely interest you or that you want to pursue.

In my case, I had decided on my field before starting, but the project developed differently from my original storyboard. I sometimes found myself unsure of how to proceed, and some scenes had to be discarded because their quality was not good enough. As a result, the project took much longer than expected.

It would also be helpful to decide specifically which images you want to use for the background and test them roughly in advance to see whether they fit the scene. Searching for references at home beforehand or taking your own photos of the images and textures you need can also be very helpful.

I hope you don't rush and instead take your time working through the project step by step. If you work through each scene carefully, one at a time, I believe you will eventually achieve a good result.

When you come across something you don't know, it is important to try finding the answer yourself, but getting help from your instructors or people around you can make the process much easier and more efficient.

There will be times when you feel tired or get stuck, but I hope you don't give up and continue working hard!

I think this was a place that helped me realize the difference between what I want to do and what I am actually capable of doing.

It was also a place that motivated me to work harder despite feeling that I was lacking and falling behind others. Most importantly, it was a valuable place that gave me the opportunity to meet and communicate with many wonderful people.

Working on the project was difficult at times, and things often didn't turn out the way I expected, so more than anything, I just wanted it to be over as quickly as possible.

Now that it is finally finished and I am writing my thoughts about completing it, I expected to feel nothing but relieved. Instead, I feel a little sad and find myself thinking, “I wish I had worked a little harder.”

There were moments when I wanted to give up, but I am happy and proud that I didn't and was able to complete the project.
