Since I had absolutely no knowledge of VFX when I started, I was honestly intimidated the first time I visited the SF Film School website. The quality of the students' work was so impressive that I wondered whether I could ever reach that level myself.
Because of those doubts, it took me quite a long time to make the decision to enroll. However, once I started the program, I realized I had nothing to be afraid of. Thanks to the instructors’ step-by-step guidance and supportive teaching style, I was able to learn steadily and build my skills over time.
Looking back, I think the hardest part was simply taking the first step. As I continued studying, my confidence grew, and now I’ve set my sights on creating a strong portfolio and pursuing my goals seriously.
To anyone who is hesitating or feeling intimidated the way I once did, I’d say: don’t waste time doubting yourself—just take the challenge. You may be surprised by how much you can achieve. 😊

There will always be challenges along the way, but don't give up. Stay persistent, trust the progress you've made, and keep pushing toward your goal one step at a time.

Thank you so much for the time you’ve spent teaching us. It already feels like the end of the course came so quickly. Every class was engaging, and I often lost track of time because it was so interesting and enjoyable.
I also really appreciated how you always tried to explain things in the simplest and most approachable way. Your sense of humor and the way you used related videos during lectures made the classes even more fun. The regular review sessions before each class helped me understand the content much more easily.
It has truly been a meaningful experience. Thank you once again for everything!

At the age of 29, starting over in a completely new field was honestly quite intimidating. Before joining SF Film School, I had attended another CG academy, and during that time I often found myself wondering whether I should give up on pursuing a career in CG altogether. With those doubts and uncertainties in mind, I decided to apply to SF Film School.
Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I could have made. The instructors’ detailed explanations, their ability to approach topics from different perspectives, and their willingness to patiently answer even the most basic questions gave me the confidence to continue studying CG.
What I appreciated most was that the classes were not simply lectures. There was plenty of time for hands-on practice, experimentation, and asking questions. Having opportunities to apply what we learned and receive immediate guidance helped me improve my skills and gain a deeper understanding of the material.
Although I sometimes struggle to fully understand and apply everything taught in class, I never felt discouraged. Instead, I felt supported and motivated to keep trying. For someone who was seriously considering giving up on the CG field, SF Film School gave me the confidence, courage, and belief that I could continue pursuing this path.
For that, I am sincerely grateful.
Instructor's Message
I know there were many personal circumstances that made attending classes difficult at times, so I truly appreciate how hard you worked to keep up with the course and continue moving forward.
As your instructor, I always wanted to share as much knowledge and experience as possible, so hearing that you found the lessons helpful and meaningful makes me both proud and happy. 😊
And giving up? It's far too early for that! 😂 One of the wonderful things about the CG industry is that opportunities are always available for those who continue learning, practicing, and improving. As long as you're willing to put in the effort, there is always room for growth and success.
You've already overcome many obstacles just by deciding to pursue this path and continuing despite the challenges. That determination is something you should be proud of.
Now our next goal is completing your portfolio. I'll continue helping you understand the concepts, improve your work, and move toward the finish line. Let's keep pushing forward together and create a portfolio that truly reflects your hard work and growth.
You worked incredibly hard throughout the Maya program, and I want to thank you as well. Keep believing in yourself, stay persistent, and remember that your journey is only just beginning.
I'm cheering for you all the way—let's do this! 🚀✨😊

My goal is to become an asset artist who can work not only on modeling but also on texturing. Through this course, I realized that creating a 3D model in Maya involves much more than just modeling itself. There are many additional processes and technical considerations involved, and learning those workflows gave me a great sense of accomplishment and excitement.
Throughout the course, I was able to learn a wide range of disciplines, including modeling, UV mapping, texturing, rigging, animation, and lighting. I've carefully organized my notes from class, and this experience has made me realize how important it will be to review and reinforce everything I've learned before entering the portfolio program.
Ultimately, I hope to grow into a well-rounded generalist who can confidently handle multiple aspects of the production pipeline.
The special lectures and portfolio presentations were also incredibly valuable experiences. They gave me a lot to study, inspired me to work harder, and provided strong motivation for the future. Seeing the work of others made me think, "One day, I want to stand there and present my own work with confidence."
I could always feel how much the instructor genuinely wanted to share knowledge with the students. Every class was packed with valuable information, and the passion behind the teaching was evident. I was especially grateful for the thoughtful and detailed answers given to every question, no matter how small.
Thank you for all your guidance and support. I hope to continue growing and become a student you can be proud of!
Instructor's Message
Ayoung, I truly believe you have what it takes to become an excellent generalist!
I'll continue doing everything I can to support and guide you along the way. More importantly, the dedication and sincerity you've consistently shown throughout the course are already qualities of a great artist.
Now it's time to organize everything you've learned and continue building upon that foundation. Make sure to review your notes, strengthen your understanding of the skills you've developed, and apply them to the portfolio projects you'll create in the future.
I'm very excited to see the work you'll produce and look forward to the beautiful portfolio pieces you'll create. Keep challenging yourself, keep learning, and keep growing.
Thank you for all your hard work throughout the course. You've done an amazing job, and I can't wait to see what you'll accomplish next. Best of luck, and I'll be cheering you on every step of the way! 😊✨

Learning 3D in a structured academy environment for the first time was an incredibly valuable experience. Thanks to the well-organized curriculum, I was able to gain a broad understanding of Maya—something that would have been much more difficult to achieve through self-study alone.
One of the biggest advantages of learning at the academy was being able to overcome obstacles quickly. When studying on my own, I often found myself stuck on problems for long periods of time. However, with the support of the instructors and fellow students, I was able to identify mistakes, receive guidance, and continue progressing without losing momentum.
Beyond simply learning how to use the software, I also appreciated the guidance on portfolio planning and career direction. Another memorable experience was having the opportunity to observe and learn about motion capture firsthand, which provided valuable insight into real-world production workflows and industry practices.
Overall, the program gave me both technical knowledge and a clearer vision of where I want to go in the future, and I’m grateful for everything I learned throughout the course.
Instructor's Message
There are certainly times when it's important to spend time thinking through a problem and solving it on your own. However, there are also situations where receiving guidance and resolving an issue quickly allows you to continue learning and move on to the next challenge more efficiently.
That’s one of the reasons why structured learning environments can be so valuable. Learning isn't only about acquiring technical skills—it’s also about having support, direction, and opportunities to grow alongside others. Being part of a group of classmates who share similar goals can provide motivation, encouragement, and a sense of stability throughout the journey.
I hope you continue approaching the remaining classes with the same enthusiasm and dedication. Keep learning, keep challenging yourself, and most importantly, don’t give up when things become difficult.
Stay focused on your goals, continue building your skills, and make the most of every opportunity to improve. I’m confident that your hard work will pay off as you move forward and develop your portfolio.
Keep up the great work, finish strong, and remember that I’ll be cheering you on every step of the way. Fighting! 🚀✨😊

Hello, I am Yumin Jeong, who took the Maya course at SF Film School! I attended the class under instructor Maya as part of cohort 438.
Although the course felt like a long journey, when considering the scale of Maya as a program, it also felt quite short. However, through SF Film School’s well-structured curriculum, I was able to learn the entire pipeline—from basic setup to animation—which I found very valuable.
In addition, I had the opportunity to attend live seminars from overseas professionals and portfolio presentations from students in the portfolio class. These experiences helped me gain insight into more in-depth production processes and better understand both the VFX industry and current market trends.
I hope to continue practicing from the fundamentals and successfully complete the portfolio stage as well. Thank you!
Instructor's Message
Yumin, great job and thank you for your hard work!
Since you’re just at the beginning stage, asking questions and doing research are essential. Please don’t feel shy—try to be more proactive in asking questions from now on.
I also spend a lot of time studying and researching, so I really encourage you not to hesitate when you have questions.
Congratulations on completing the course, and feel free to reach out anytime. I hope you continue creating great work!

When I went for a consultation with a vague desire to learn CG, the instructor clearly explained which part I should focus on and what I needed to learn, and gave me confidence that even non-majors could do it.
When I first started learning the program, everything from controls to terminology felt unfamiliar, and I often felt like I was falling behind.
However, since the class was small, the instructor was able to support me almost like a 1:1 lesson, guiding me step by step so I could keep up and eventually complete the course.
Although I still have many shortcomings, I feel that I will be able to stay motivated and continue into the portfolio class.
Instructor's Message
Minjeong, you really worked hard during this course.
I still remember how focused you were during practice sessions.
Even when things didn’t go well, you kept trying until you solved them, which I thought was very impressive.
With that attitude, I believe you will also be able to complete your portfolio successfully.
Don’t rush yourself—just stay focused and keep going like you did in class.
Good luck moving forward!

I started this program with little to no prior knowledge, so I was quite worried at first. However, because the classes were kept small and the lessons were taught step by step, I was able to learn comfortably and build my skills with confidence.
The curriculum was also very well organized, making it approachable even for complete beginners like me. Looking back, I can honestly say that enrolling in this program was a decision I do not regret at all.
I’m especially grateful to the instructor for paying close attention to each student and always answering questions with enthusiasm and patience. Thanks to that support, I was able to learn so much throughout the course and gain confidence in my abilities.
Thank you for all of your guidance and encouragement.

You approached your assignments diligently, stayed committed to the learning process, and always did your best to keep up with the curriculum. From my perspective, your hard work and dedication were very evident throughout the program.
I hope you continue learning enthusiastically in the remaining classes and successfully create the portfolio pieces and projects you’re aiming for. I’ll be cheering you on from the sidelines and supporting your journey toward your goals.
Thank you for all your effort, and I wish you the very best moving forward. Keep up the great work and good luck! 😊🚀✨

As an adult attending a program that lasts for several months, I expected that some students might lose motivation or gradually drift away. However, the classmates who started this journey with me remained committed throughout the entire course, and everyone worked hard until the very end.
One thing that left a strong impression on me was the learning culture of the academy. Throughout the school, there were messages emphasizing dedication, discipline, and the mindset required for growth. It gave me the sense that the academy genuinely wanted to help serious and motivated students succeed, and that commitment from the instructors and staff was both reassuring and inspiring.
Overall, I felt supported by an environment that truly values learning and growth, and I am grateful for the experience.

I would like to thank you for teaching me so well when I started with absolutely no knowledge, especially while I had to handle an extremely tough schedule.
I was working a closing part-time job, so after finishing class I would go straight to work, come home around 12:30 a.m., shower, sleep, and wake up at 7 a.m. to attend class again. I still can’t believe that this routine has already reached its later stage.
You must have seen me often tired or not actively participating in class, which might have seemed frustrating, but I’m grateful you still continued to teach me patiently until the end. Because of that, I was able to develop a sense of understanding and reach a certain level of skill.
I will prepare my storyboard and design in August and move on to the portfolio class in September, so I hope we can continue working together.
Although I may have just been one of many students passing through each month and year, I truly appreciate the warm and enjoyable class atmosphere and your teaching.
Instructor's Message
So Maya is finally over.
It must have been very difficult to attend classes while managing such a busy schedule. Good job enduring it all. I sometimes felt sorry seeing you fall asleep from exhaustion, but I’m really glad you made it through and are now writing this review.
I always hope all students do well. Of course, everyone has different goals and different results based on effort, but if you have a dream, you should give it your best. In video work, the quality really reflects the effort you put in.
So don’t give up until the end—let’s make a great portfolio together. Good job!

At the beginning of the program, I was worried about whether I would be able to keep up with the course, but looking back now, I’ve learned so much throughout this journey.
One of the things that helped me the most was the instructor’s continuous feedback. Whenever I missed something or struggled to understand a concept, the instructor would immediately point it out and explain it clearly, allowing me to improve and stay on track.
The lessons were taught step by step, starting from the fundamentals, which made it possible to follow along even when the material became challenging. Thanks to that guidance and support, I was able to continue learning with confidence and make meaningful progress.
Thank you so much for all of your patience, encouragement, and dedication throughout the course!

I enrolled in the Maya course in order to get a job at an animation company. Starting with simple chair modeling in the early stages, I went on to work on cars, lighting, materials, and character rigging. Through these hands-on exercises, I was able to learn the essential tools needed for production and also understand details that are easy to miss while working.
Based on the fundamental skills I learned, I will work hard to create a strong portfolio and aim for a job at my desired animation studio. Thank you for everything.
Instructor's Message
Jeonghyun, great job and thank you for your hard work!
You consistently attended class and showed a very diligent attitude, which was great to see.
If you continue working like this, I believe you will be able to create an even better portfolio than what you are currently producing.
As you continue studying and working, I hope you ask lots of questions and discuss with your classmates to make the process more enjoyable.

I was struggling with Maya on my own at home, but eventually reached a point where I couldn’t solve things by myself, so I decided to join the academy. During the course, I found it very helpful that the instructor didn’t just teach individual tools, but explained how understanding one concept can be applied and expanded into many different areas.
For beginners in Maya, I think understanding the core concepts is especially important, and this course really helped with that. It was also a very enjoyable experience, and I would definitely recommend it to others who are interested in CG.
Instructor's Message
Jaewon, thank you for your hard work throughout the course until the very end! I really appreciated your consistent curiosity and willingness to explore during every class.
If you continue to maintain that mindset, you’ll be able to succeed in any CG-related field you choose. Now it’s time to take what you’ve learned and turn it into your own work and portfolio. I’ll support you as much as I can moving forward.
Thank you again for your effort throughout the course. Take care of your health!

Before joining the academy, I felt completely lost when it came to learning Maya. I wasn't sure where to begin or how to approach such a complex program. Thanks to my instructor's guidance and support, however, I was able to successfully complete the course and build a solid foundation.
I tend to take a little longer to understand new concepts, so I asked a lot of questions throughout the program. No matter how many questions I had, my instructor always took the time to explain everything in detail. Even outside of class hours, I could count on receiving helpful and thoughtful answers whenever I needed assistance, which made a tremendous difference in my learning experience.
I am truly grateful for all the feedback, encouragement, and support I received throughout the course. Moving forward, I will continue studying diligently and do my best to apply everything I have learned. Thank you for helping me take my first steps in this field.
Instructor's Message
Namju, watching you approach your studies with sincerity and dedication has been incredibly rewarding for me as an instructor.
Over time, I could clearly see your understanding of Maya improving. Compared to when you first started—when many things felt unfamiliar and overwhelming—you now approach challenges with much greater confidence and are able to solve problems more independently. Seeing that growth has been genuinely inspiring.
I have no doubt that if you continue learning and practicing consistently, you'll be able to create excellent work in the future. The progress you've already made is proof of what you can accomplish through persistence and effort.
As you continue your journey, don't hesitate to ask questions whenever you encounter difficulties. Keep building on the foundation you've established, continue challenging yourself, and stay committed to your goals.
I'm looking forward to seeing the great projects you'll create in the future. Keep up the hard work, and best of luck moving forward! 😊👏

Before joining the Maya class, I could only do basic modeling, and even those models had noticeable issues with clean topology when I look back at them now. Through this course, I was able to rebuild my fundamentals in a more structured and systematic way, which was very valuable.
The quality of my work improved significantly especially after learning texturing and lighting. It was impressive to be able to create textures directly in a 3D environment, and I realized that UV mapping and texturing require a lot of hands-on practice. I also learned that while lighting requires practice as well, it equally requires strong theoretical understanding.
As I worked with Substance Painter and V-Ray for the first time, I often had more questions and confusion compared to modeling, but thanks to the instructor’s constant support and clear explanations, I was able to continue learning without major difficulties.
Moving into the animation part and learning rigging allowed me to create types of work I had not been able to attempt before, which made personal projects even more enjoyable and exciting. By the end of the Maya course, I was even able to apply CG work to short films and music videos, which helped me realize how much I had learned throughout the program.
I now believe I have finally built a basic foundation in Maya. I plan to continue studying from modeling again and expand my skills further through various projects. Thank you very much to my instructor. I hope to share good news someday.
Instructor's Message
It was very rewarding to teach you because it was clear how much effort you were putting into applying what you learned in different ways.
Texturing and lighting definitely stand out when it comes to improving the overall quality of work, and it was great to see you notice that as well. Observing, practicing, and continuously experimenting will always be a huge advantage.
I believe you will continue to do well in many areas moving forward. Even though there is still a lot to learn, you’ve already shown that you can approach challenges with the same dedication you had during this course.
I’m looking forward to your future progress and will always be cheering you on.

After completing the Maya course, I was able to experience working with a program I had never used before. Although it was completely new to me, I found the process of learning it very enjoyable. It also felt refreshing to move from working only in 2D to exploring 3D for the first time, which gave me a completely different perspective.
Of course, not every lesson was easy, and there were many moments where I struggled to follow along. However, I believe that by actively applying what I learned and continuing to practice, I will gradually become more comfortable using the tools and effects introduced in class.
Overall, this course gave me a valuable introduction to 3D, and I plan to keep practicing and reinforcing what I’ve learned so that I can build stronger skills over time.
Instructor's Message
Good work, Minkwon. 😊
I know it’s not easy balancing school and attending classes, especially when you also have to travel a long distance. But I really appreciate how consistently you showed up and kept trying throughout the course.
I can tell from your notes that you’re putting in effort, which is great—but remember, taking notes is only the first step. The most important part is actually practicing and repeatedly building things on your own.
Right now, creating things might still feel a bit difficult, but that’s exactly why repetition and review are so important. If you keep practicing without giving up, you’ll definitely improve over time.
Effort always leads to results, so don’t lose motivation. Stay consistent, keep reviewing, and keep building. I believe you’ll get there.
Let’s finish the remaining course strong—fighting! 🚀✨

Since I had never worked with Maya before, I was honestly a bit intimidated at first. However, the instructor guided us step by step from the very beginning, making it easy even for complete beginners to follow along. We started with simple modeling exercises, which helped me stay engaged, and gradually moved on to more challenging objects, allowing me to build a solid understanding of Maya’s fundamental modeling workflow.
In addition to Maya, we also learned how to use various supporting tools in considerable depth. I feel that I need to continue practicing texturing on my own, especially with software such as Substance Painter.
As I progressed through animation, rigging, FX, and other areas, balancing the course with my work became increasingly difficult. Nevertheless, the knowledge and experience I gained during the Maya classes have given me the confidence and motivation to push through my current challenges.
Beyond the classes themselves, I found the conferences, alumni presentations, assignment feedback sessions, industry guest lectures, and various school events to be extremely valuable and inspiring.
I believe that, no matter what we pursue, the most important thing is our own mindset and determination. I would like to sincerely thank my instructor for guiding me throughout this journey and encouraging me to continually challenge and improve myself.

Although the Maya classes have come to an end, I believe that if you continue studying CG diligently, your skills will steadily improve and become a great asset in your future career. I hope you will keep up the consistent effort you’ve shown so far. And if you ever need help or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

At the beginning, the time felt like it would be long, but it passed much faster than I expected. Each class introduced something new, and although it was quite overwhelming at first, I gradually adjusted and began to find it interesting.
I think I was able to get through it thanks to the instructor, who never got frustrated even when I asked the same questions repeatedly and always explained things patiently. After completing the Maya course, I will be moving on to the portfolio class.
Seeing the impressive work of senior students in the portfolio class makes me wonder if I can do it too, but I’ve decided to work harder so that I can one day create my own great作品.
