INTERVIEW:

Hello, this is Song Se Jin who finished VFX regular program in SFFS. When I was fifteen, I was fascinated that how a bland picture can transform into a beautiful picture by drawing and using editing tools. Although I was fascinated, I didn't have much information in the CGI industry. I downloaded Photoshop 6.0 and studied on my own. I loved watching movies. Watching Transformer inspired me to learn VFX. I was contemplating whether I have the aptitude in the industry, but now I have my own portfolio, I am excited to join post-production as a VFX artist. My first encounter of 3D art from 2D art was quite intimidating, but taking lessons from SFFS, getting help and inspiration from my colleagues, and having supportive teachers made it possible for me to complete my own portfolio. I was inspired by still cuts from video games such as "Call of Duty" and "Company of Heroes", and movies and TV shows about World War II when I was making my portfolio. I wanted to express that nuanced atmosphere of war. Ironically, I saw the beauty in tragedy and sadness of wars. So I used M4 Sherman as the main character of my portfolio. As I was researching for the background sources, I found Hapcheon Movie Park, so I used that location. I imagined how a military tank would operate in such scene and applied 3D animation. The process of making my portfolio was a process of making VFX knowledge that I learned as mine. Don't give up on your dream.
