In this seminar, the efficient processing method and performance brought about by the advanced working method from the Hollywood VFX produced by hand in the past to the present are presented. He explained the benefits of , and informed us about the rapidly changing face of VFX in Hollywood. After that, we had portfolio feedback time for SFFS LAB students. In November 2022, the monthly best was selected as the 409th Bae Minji student. In the work Minji Bae is working on, a robot living a repetitive life in a factory breaks the loop that is repeated by a butterfly that flows into it. It is a work that contains the content to go out to the free world. Bae Min-ji says he wants to tell you to commit and see for your portfolio. Of course, in the process of doing so, it is said that you need to consistently raise confirmations and actively accept feedback from people around you. Today, there was a graduation work presentation where two graduates who completed a great portfolio at SF Film School conveyed the production process and know-how to their juniors. Haesol Kim and Eunbin Lee are the main characters. Haesol Kim, a graduate, created a portfolio with a laboratory concept to discover new creatures that have never been seen before. With the theme of the movie 'JOKER', Eunbin Lee, a graduate, created a portfolio containing the toilet and the character of the Joker, where the Joker's change of heart occurs. Peter Choi is working at ILM in Canada and is delivering useful information about VFX Workflow and Composite through seminars for SF Film School students. Yeji Jeong and Eunjin Jang participated in the portfolio feedback session of FFS LAB students. The teacher explained one by one what was lacking in the work or where the quality was to be improved, and generously gave useful advice and encouragement to the work. It was a useful time to get a lot of information, from honey tips on overseas employment that many students are curious about, to corporate trends in Hollywood and tips on resumes. Haesol Kim, a student who completed our SFFS regular program, was awarded on [The Best Work of the Month]. Haesol Kim is currently making a creature portfolio. Making 3D models for machinery parts in high school inspired him to become a character modeller. He joined SF Film School because he was impressed by the quality of portfolios as he was looking for schools to learn character modelling. He explains that the main character of his work is a creature inspired by a frilled-neck lizard.
He said that the best tip to improve the quality of your portfolio is to look up for references and observe them in detail. Once again, we would like to give a round applause to HaeSol Kim for making the Best Work of the Month.

Today, we had a graduation presentation by three graduating students who created amazing work in Busan branch. 'BoGyu Seo' picked 'Harbor and transportation' as the theme, so he created hard surface models, such as trucks, cranes, and airplanes for his portfolio. With a great lighting, it was like watching a professional advertisement done by a corporate. 'WonTaek Oh' created a modelling of 'F-suit' which is a robot from the film, <Avatar>. By putting incredible amount of details on modelling and texture, he could finish his portfolio with amazing quality. On the other hand, 'YunJoo Lee' made her portfolio as the collage of interesting scenes from her favorite film, <Old Boy> From detailed sculpting to realistic textures of skin and hair, it was truly an impressive portfolio. Thanks to three graduates and their presentation, our students could learn a lot.

We had a graduation presentation of students’ portfolios from our SFFS LAB. YoonSun Kim’s portfolio had a retro theme and the setting was based in an arcade, and it was impressive that she put multiple shades of vivid lighting harmoniously in a confined place.
The detailed texture and colourful lights added realism to the space. BoMi Tak’s portfolio was like an enticing nature documentary. She showed us the details of the small world that the animals live in. The tension between a frog and a firefly in the video was captivating, and the moist skin texture of the frog was definitely fascinating. Many SFFS students joined the presentation both online and offline. Thanks to the students who were eager to share their tips, it was an educational time.

Sebastian Schutt is a VFX artist who is currently working as a Lead/ Senior Compositor in Imagine Engine. He joined various VFX productions, such as Avengers series, Star Wars series, Aquan Man, Aladdin, Transformer series, and etc. In this seminar that he specially organized for our SFFS students, he discussed his career experiences, the role of composition in the VFX, and how to expand your career to Hollywood. He worked in many VFX studios in all sizes. By having more than 10 years of working experiences in small to big studios, he gave our students precious advice.
He explained the charms of being a compositor and how the composition work is connected to building the workflow with artists in the other VFX parts. It was an educational time listening to realistic advice and fresh stories from a Hollywood VFX artist.

The Lighting & Compositing Artist in Walt Disney Animation Studios
The theme of this seminar was “Shooting techniques and Shot design for filming VFX and Cartoon Animation”. He joined various VFX productions, such as Bumblebee, Star Wars, Moana, Encanto, Aladdin, and etc. Many of our students were eager to learn from him and attended the seminar both online and offline. He explained how to set Lighting as realistic as possible and how to set its layout. Furthermore, he taught our students how big animation studios set shots and layout for cool scenes, their principle and techniques, and practical tips on choosing colours to create a certain theme.

The detailed and meticulous feedback on the two students' military uniform and armor modeling provided an opportunity to further develop the students' modeling portfolio.
