Hello, my name is Steven. I’m 27 years old and originally from the UK. I currently live near Seoul National University Station and spent the past 10 months in Canada.
I learned about the school through my Korean girlfriend. I had plans to study VFX and Animation, but when I looked into schools in the US and Canada, the tuition fees were too high, making it difficult to decide. While searching for alternatives, my girlfriend found SF Film School and introduced it to me.
Last summer, I visited the school in person and was very satisfied with what I saw. Even during my recent visit this summer, my impressions remained the same — I was highly satisfied. The materials I found online and on YouTube were also impressive. I especially liked that the program starts from the basics, making it accessible even for those without prior technical knowledge. Plus, being able to spend time with my girlfriend here was an added bonus.
Most of the portfolios I’ve seen from the school were of very high quality, on par with works I’ve seen online. They were highly detailed and reflected a great deal of effort and dedication. Seeing these works makes me excited for the possibility of creating my own impressive projects in the future.
I’m very satisfied with the classes I’m currently taking. The step-by-step explanations allow me to follow along easily without prior knowledge, and the friendly, personal interactions with each classmate create a positive learning environment. This is something I truly appreciate, especially compared to schools abroad.
I also like that instead of diving into projects immediately, the instructors first provide demonstrations, and we then practice by following them step-by-step. My plan is to stay in Korea for a while after completing my portfolio before returning to my home country, with the ultimate goal of working in the VFX industry. I believe that by completing my portfolio, improving my skills, and continuing to study diligently, I will create great opportunities for myself in the future.
Even though I’m not fluent in Korean, there’s someone to help me during class, so I can fully understand the instructor’s explanations without any issues. I can also easily clarify any parts I don’t understand, which makes the learning process much smoother.
